Harry E. Bolin, 86, of Fredericktown, died Thursday, April 30, 2015, in Monongahela Valley Care Center.
He was born April 6, 1929, in Kilman, W.Va., a son of the late Frank and Katherine Babko Bolin.
From 1946 through 1968, he served with the U.S. Marina Corps, retiring with the rank of Gunnery SGT/E7. He was a combat veteran of Korea, Vietnam and World War II. For his services, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, United Nations Medal, Good Conduct Medal with four bronze service stars, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Sitation, World War II Victory Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze service star and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device.
After his military service, he spent 20 years working as an underground coal miner for Republic Steel's Clyde Mine in Fredericktown, and was a member of United Mine Workers of America.
Mr. Bolin was a member of Victory Club and a former member of Binnstown Lowhill Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, Pittsburgh Steelers and going to casinos.
On February 25, 1980, he married Beverly Kovach Bolin, who died March 24, 2003.
Surviving are three children, Ronald Novotnak (Kim) of Washington, Frank Novotnak of Texas and Patty Pryor (Frank) of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Jamie Chrobak, Carrie Novotnak and Nicholas and Frankie Pryor; two great-grandchildren, Parker Novotnak and Gage Chrobak; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are siblings, Thomas, Alec and Kenneth Bolin and Ann Salvatore.
Mr. Bolin was the last of his immediate family.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, May 2, in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, with Deacon Thomas Raymond officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Brownsville. Military rites will be accorded graveside.
